Chaz Mathias

Chaz graduated from California State University East Bay with a Bachelor of Science degree in Corporate Management. While in school, he worked full-time as a Project Manager for Synergy Solar & Electrical Systems Inc., where he developed a passion for the solar industry.
During this time, Chaz also served as a volunteer firefighter and was the President of the Association Board for the Graton Fire Protection District, dedicating his time to community service.
After seven years with Synergy Solar and Graton Fire, Chaz transitioned to Qualcomm, a multinational Fortune 500 company, where he led a new program within the Research and Development Department. His role focused on driving cost savings, improving efficiencies, and managing large accounts with external suppliers.
Though his time at Qualcomm was successful, Chaz realized his true passion was in the solar industry. In 2018, he and his brother Dylan co-founded First Response Solar, providing solar installations and storage solutions to customers in Sonoma County. First Response Solar was founded with the mission to offer customers a contractor with integrity, delivering the highest level of customer service and support for their solar investments.
Chaz enjoys hiking, playing sports, and staying active while exploring the outdoors of Sonoma County.
Dylan Mathias

Dylan graduated with honors from San Diego State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. While attending school, he worked full-time at Qualcomm Incorporated, a Fortune 500 company, in the Intellectual Property Department. Dylan was responsible for analyzing data on the patent portfolio and helping develop systems for the 5G-Technology team. He contributed to high-profile projects that drove the company's multi-billion-dollar annual revenue. Dylan's key strengths include sales, managing company finances, and creating/streamlining systems to improve operational efficiencies.
Realizing the corporate world wasn’t the right fit, Dylan and his brother Chaz Mathias co-founded First Response Solar Inc., a solar and home storage installation company. Built on the values they learned growing up on a sustainable organic farm, the company emphasizes minimizing carbon footprints and providing high-quality service while fostering long-term relationships with clients.
Outside of work, Dylan enjoys being outdoors, playing sports, hiking, exercising, and spending time with family and friends.
Jeff Mathias

Jeff graduated in 1984 from UC Santa Barbara with a BA in Business Economics and a minor in Computer Science. For the next 14 years Jeff pursued a career in sales, marketing and project management for a multi-billion dollar computer company installing systems for community banks. His primary focus was reducing and eliminating the excessive amounts of paper, microfiche and microfilm produced by financial institutions.
Deciding to make family and community a priority, Jeff and his family moved to Sebastopol and created Coyote Moon Farm. On five acres they created a market garden, selling vegetables, fruits, eggs and honey to farmers markets in West County. Jeff sat on the Board of the West Somona County Farmers Market in addition to helping open new farmers markets in the area.
In May of 2006, Jeff began his new career working as a journeyman electrician and solar project manager for Synergy Electrical Energy Systems (SES). On January 1, 2007, Jeff and long time employee of SEES, Michael Pane, purchased the assets of SEES. A new company was created, Synergy Solar & Electrical Systems Inc., and the resources of the company were directed primarily towards sales, design and installation of residential solar and energy storage systems.
Over the next 14 years Jeff's primary responsibility for Synergy were solar and energy storage system (ESS) sales consulting, design, financial justifications and customer service. In 2011 Jeff received his C46 Solar Contractors license and in 2013 Jeff received his NABCEP Technical Sales and Design Professional Certification. During his 14 years at Synergy, jeff also sat on the board for Solar Sonoma County, was Chairman of the North Bay chapter of California Solar and Storage Association, sat on the advisory boards at Sonoma County Energy Independence Program and Santa Rosa Junior Collages PV program. Jeff also sat on a task force to help establish Sonoma Clean Power, and worked with all 10 jurisdiction in Sonoma County on solar permitting and fire guidelines related to solar.
At the end of 2021, Jeff sold his equity position in Synergy to Justin Hiner, long time Synergy Employee, taking on an advisory role as an employee of the company. In mid-2022 Jeff started Mathias Energy Consulting to help home owners and buyers of new homes de-mystify how solar and Energy storage works and to maximize their investments in these systems. Jeff is a lover of the outdoors and enjoys SCUBA diving, playing sand volleyball, hiking, camping, and enjoying all of the wonders Sonoma County has to offers.
